FAQ

What are the Re-igniting Promises Campaign goals?
The Directions Team has set a base goal of $600,000 to be used to pay for the worship center mortgage. This will be paid off first. A challenge goal of an additional $400,000 has been established and would be used for a 30’x60’ multipurpose room. Construction of the multipurpose room would begin only after the $600,000 obligation has been met and additional funds sufficient to meet the requirements for the construction of the multipurpose room are available.

Has the new worship center helped us reach beyond our walls?

  1. 28 families visited between April 4 and December 31
  2. 15 of those families visited 3 or more times (standard goal is 20% return rate of 3 or more times)
  3. 10 individuals from those families have become members
  4. 5 of the first 7 children baptized in the new worship center are new since Beyond These Walls
  5. 2 of the 10 new members are new Christians

What is the scope of the challenge goal?
The Challenge Goal has been set at $400,000. This would provide the funds our architectural firm, Keach Architectural Design, Inc, has indicated will be needed to build a 30’x60’ multipurpose room.

What are the construction and plan details for the new multi-purpose space?
The architect has provided a schematic drawing of the new construction. More detailed drawings will be developed after the Challenge Goal has been met.

Why are we considering this challenge goal?
Building a 30’x60’ multipurpose room already in the Phase 2 plan would allow us to meet some ministry needs now without waiting until we have the contributions for the entire Phase 2 plan. The Phase 2 plan was estimated to cost $1,241,327 in December 2007.

How could the multipurpose room be used?
This space could be used in almost unlimited ways to address ministry need gaps. These uses include but are not limited to:

  1. Dinners – fellowship meals, funeral dinners, wedding receptions
  2. Special Church Activities – Chili Cook-Off, Cookie Walk, Book Sale
  3. Regular Church Groups – Fitness Groups (Yoga), Confirmation Class, Rocketry Group
  4. Large Church Meetings – Church Council, Care Ministry Team
  5. Large Community Meetings – Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Weightwatchers, Neighborhood Association
  6. Children’s Activities – Little Willows Romper Room, Halloween Extravaganza Movie Nights
  7. Youth Activities – Jr. and Sr. High Youth Recreation, Confirmation Class, Preteen Group
  8. Seminars and Workshops
  9. Sunday School Classes

Are there other important advantages to the adding this space?
The lobby has become the major “connecting” place for those attending Willow Hill Church. This is an essential (and critical) ministry of our congregation. The movement of some of the activities that are taking place in the Lobby to the new multipurpose room would allow the connecting ministries of our church to be more effective. You heard Pastor Ken say in the Celebration/Information Meeting Video that often we need to be connected to people in the church as part of the journey to be connected to Christ. It is important that we have the lobby available for people to connect with one another.

Will this replace the plans for Phase 2?
No. Jeff Keach, our church architect, has assured the Building Team that this space can be incorporated into our Phase 2 plan with minimal additional cost to the overall project.

Should I make the Re-Igniting Promises Campaign my first priority in my giving?
The operating fund budget supports the ongoing mission and ministry of our congregation and is our first priority. Giving to the Re-Igniting Promises campaign must be “over and above” our regular giving to the operating fund.
